Three Dutch troops were reportedly shot and injured early Saturday morning in downtown Indianapolis following a disturbance outside the hotel where they were staying, according to authorities.
The shooting occurred at approximately 3:30 a.m. EDT in the entertainment section of Indianapolis. Officers discovered three guys with gunshot wounds, who were transported to surrounding hospitals, according to the Indianapolis police.
The Dutch defense ministry reported that one soldier was in serious condition and two others were awake. In contrast, authorities in Indianapolis said that two soldiers were in critical condition and one was in stable condition.
The ministry stated that the three troops were from the Commando Corps and were in Indiana for training when they were shot in front of their hotel during their free time.
According to Indianapolis police, an incident between the three victims and another person or persons led to the shooting.
The ministry stated that the families of the victims had been notified as Indianapolis police conducted their investigation.
No Arrests Have Been Made
The Indiana National Guard reported that the soldiers were conducting training at the Muscatatuck Urban Training Center, a 1,000-acre (405-hectare) site located around 40 miles (65 kilometers) southeast of Indianapolis.
The Guard stated in a statement that the training facility is utilized by the Department of Defense and "other friends."
The Dutch soldiers ended their duty day by visiting Indianapolis. During this terrible moment, our thoughts and prayers are with the soldiers and their families," the Guard said, as reported by WXIN-TV.
